For my readers who lead or are active in small groups in the church: Please see the below info. It is the text from the email we just sent to over 25,000 churches.

Your opinion matters!

When making a purchase, nothing helps more than reading a candid review from a trusted source. At the small group exchange were committed to building a place where small group leaders can find the best resource for their group.

The first 200 leaders who spend 10 minutes writing a review of a small group study theyve gone through, will receive a free resource of their choice.

Heres how it works.

 1)       Write a Review – Visit SmallGroupExchange.com, find a small group study, book or workbook that youve gone through. Be one of the first three people to write a review and rate the study, and dont be shy, the more you can share the greater youre helping the next small group leader on the site!

2)     Email Us – Email reviews at smallgroupexchange dot com – a link to the review that youve written on Small Group Exchange and any study from Erwin McManus, Don Miller, Rob Bell or Max Lucado under $30 that you would like to be sent for FREE. Be sure to include a full mailing address and phone number so we can get it to you in the next 7-10 days.

 Thanks!

The Small Group Exchange

By the way, some reviews will also be shared at ChristianBooks.com and LifeWay to help small group leaders on those sites as well

Uprising back from the press

We just finished up the edits to a new video-driven study based off Erwin McManus’ book, Uprising: A Revolution of the Soul. The study has six sessions all dealing with how God wants to transform our character to be more like his. The whole kit is back from the press (I love that smell!) and it looks incredible. We’re really happy with how it turned out.

On the production team, we seek out real-life stories that fit with the teaching in the sessions. A certain story that was needed was facing courage/doing what is right in the midst of a major trial like a job loss. I pitched my husband’s story of losing his job for sharing his faith to our team and they ended up shooting our story together. It’s now in the Uprising kit.

Being almost two years out of that trial, it was easier to share the story (even though it did seem like we were reliving it somewhat) and be an encouragement to others. You can check out the trailer here (props to Phil). The guy in the salmon collared shirt talking with a patient near the beginning is my husband.

This may be a study you’re interested in and will want to check out.

LeadNow & Fusion 2008

I’m getting really excited about our LeadNow and Fusion events coming up in November here in Dallas. It will be here before we know it! This year is different than any other year because we’re giving leaders the opportunity to host a simulcast at their church or attend a simulcast at a location close to them. This definitely helps with gas prices and the way the economy is functioning as a whole right now.

These events are for you if you’re a leader of twenties and thirties and if you are in your twenties and thirties. I can’t think of a better place to grow in my relationship with God and others- learning under great leaders like Erwin McManus, Matt Chandler, Margaret Feinberg, Francis Chan, and my very own pastor, Todd Wagner. I can’t wait to show the promo DVD to my small group and other friends. Baby John will probably be about one month old then so I am hoping we can have a little outing together, if possible. He’ll get to have some early exposure to some great people.

You can visit Rightnow.org for way more information than I will post here. Feel free to email me or leave a comment if you have questions about these events and I can direct you to the right person here at Bluefish/The Rightnow Campaign. I really hope you will take advantage of this opportunity- especially my twenties and thirties readers!

Filming Youth Series w/ Sean McDowell & Marcus Goodloe

This past week, I enjoyed talking to Phil about his recent trip to LA to film two separate series for our upcoming youth ministry kit.

Phil and Josh filmed Marcus Goodloe aka “Goodie,” in a downtown loft in LA. He taught on the upcoming youth series called Choices. Goodie is on staff at Mosaic with Erwin McManus and has a passion for leadership training, particularly to youth and young adults. I really love that we get to partner with such creative and brilliant leaders there at Mosaic.

Sean McDowell was also a part of the upcoming series. He encouraged teens in the series called Friends, which was filmed at Capistrano Valley Christian Schools. Sean actually teaches “Apologetics 101” and “Old Testament Survey” there.

I smiled at Phil when he said that he and Josh managed to fit in a Dodger’s game (actually I got a little jealous). Phil and Josh hung out at the game with Chris Seay from Ecclesia Church and Eric Bryant from Mosaic (author of Peppermint Filled Pinatas). They also ate good Mexican food at the same place Richard Nixon used to dine.

I’m really looking forward to the upcoming 2009 Youth Ministry kit. We have some awesome leaders lined up for the teaching and some really impacting interviews from teens. The kit will release August 1 so you can keep an eye out for it at bluefishtv.com.

LA Shoot with Erwin McManus

A few weeks back, our team returned from Los Angeles to film their fourth major video project with Erwin McManus, based off his ever-popular book Uprising: A Revolution of the Soul.

The weekend of the shoot was perfect. LA’s weather was flawless and our team had a blast shooting the beautiful scenery and vast terrain surrounding them. The prime location for the video series was Griffith Park in the Hollywood hills.

Our crew set up their cameras overlooking the expansive Hollywood reservoir. Erwin reviewed his notes and in no time, the cameras were rolling. In a simple yet profound way, Erwin challenges young adults to give their life away by tapping into the talents and gifts God has given them. He states, “We are magnetized to a world filled with opportunities and often paralyzed by the inherent responsibilities.” His charismatic teaching style inspires this generation to change their ordinary life into one with extraordinary passion.

After a long day of work, all the footage was complete. It was hard for our team to pull away from sunny LA and Erwin McManus; however they were anxious to return to their offices and edit the footage. They packed their bags and headed back to Dallas.

The Bible study series filmed in LA with Erwin McManus will be called Uprising: a 6-session video-driven Bible study and will release Sept. 1, 2008. It will include a leader’s guide, workbook, 6 video sesssions, and the book itself. Check out our current DVD resources with Erwin McManus: Impact, Choices, Dreams, and Advance.

Little Girl and Psalm 23

Since I’ve started my new job at Bluefish TV, I’ve had the privilege of meeting some amazing people. I’ve only been here one week, and it feels like home. Currently, I’m working on editing bios and session descriptions for people like Donald Miller, Margaret Feinberg, and Erwin McManus. These are just a few authors/speakers who will be speaking at our upcoming Fusion and Leadnow Events in Orlando, Seattle, and Dallas.

At Bluefish we create video sermon illustrations for small group leaders, pastors, or youth groups to use in whatever they are teaching on. We also create curriculum and video driven Bible studies. I am on the production team as a writer and work with the creative geniuses that produce these videos. One downloadable video that was launched almost a year ago on Bluefish, Godtube, and Youtube has made it around the world.

Little did my boss know that his little girl would impact 6 million people! Click here to watch the video. You won’t be able to get enough of it. I’ve watched it about 15 times.
